Weekend Wear & a Little Nostalgia

For me, weekends are not only a time to relax, but a time to dress up. It might sound crazy, but after working in an office with an informal dress code for long enough, it actually made me eager to get a little bit more dressed come Friday.

Even if it is just changing out of my jeans and flats and throwing on a skirt as simple yet versatile as this one, and a pair of heels, I almost always feel revived as if I am beginning a new day on Friday night. For this look, I decided to pair the skirt with one of my favorite velvet crop tops, an item I purchased during my time in London from Urban Outfitters. Though the store certainly isn’t unique to England, and there was no doubt a similar version of the top for sale here, it is still one of my favorite pieces when I think back on the day that I purchased it, wandering around Spitalfields without a care in the world almost 5 years ago exactly, and later that night, when I wore it for the first time to go out with my flatmates.

It’s amazing how clothes become a part of our journey, staying with us for years as we transition through various jobs, places, and stages of our lives, do you have any favorite pieces that spark memories?

Below I’ve linked my skirt which is now on sale at the Gap, a similar crop top and pair of heels, and my favorite pair of sunglasses which are now on sale at Banana Republic.

I hope you have a lovely Halloween and weekend!

I love that skirt, never met a leopard print I didn’t like! And the top is so fun. Love that its something you got from your time abroad. I have a shirt I bought in Greece that brings me so much joy when I wear it (which isn’t often because it’s a bit of a while piece, but whatever, haha!)

I love pieces that you get while you are away, it’s the perfect kind of souvenir. These days it’s hard to get truly unique pieces, no matter where you go, the same global stores follow you around. Even still, it’s your memories of it that make it special.

Love it! There are a lot of Cheetah prints out there. This one is perfect! Love the length and the color. I agree with you, I work from home and also take advantage of the weekends to get a bit more dressy!
