There’s just something special about wearing white in the winter. I love how the brightness of a pure white contrasts against a gloomy winter day, and the warmth felt by a cream colored fur, or cozy sweater. I also gravitate towards white in the winter because it takes on such a different aesthetic than it does during the summer. It almost becomes more unexpected as we get lost in a sea of blacks, grays, and browns after the holiday season. While a tailored white coat, or classic white cable knit sweater stun when worn with anything, my favorite way to style whites this time of year is together.
Below I’ve listed a few simple tips to follow when creating your own all white look:
- Pick out three or four different pieces so that you can play around with mixing shades and colors. These white jeans from Banana Republic are great because they are a bright shade of white that stands out when worn with more muted tones, which adds a nice contrasting effect. For your other pieces, pick out a few layers whether it’s a sweater, jacket, and hat like I chose, or maybe a scarf or belt.
- One of the other things to consider when working with one color family is choosing pieces that each have a unique texture. I love how this sherpa looks with the sweater, because while they are a very similar color, they still stand out as individual pieces.
- Finally, it can be fun to add a layer of dimension to an all white look with another color. I decided to keep it subtle with a brown boot, but a brighter pop of color either on a shoe or other accessory is a great way to break up the white, and add a bit of interest.
