Styling a Linen Short

Linen pieces are arguably the best items to have on hand in the summer, and after organizing my closet recently I realized that it’s been a while since I’ve added any to my collection. One of my favorite things to wear when I lived in California was a pair of blue and tan striped linen pants; they are wide-legged, and absolutely perfect for nights on the beach. Since I’ve moved back east, I haven’t once thought about wearing them since we’ve been having such a hot summer. These days, I can get away with wearing a dress or shorts at night without being cold, a rarity on the west coast. In light of this, I decided to purchase a pair of linen shorts similar to my pants so that I can once again style a beachy linen piece perfect for a summer on the water.

These Abercrombie Shorts are actually a linen-blend, but they are still just as breathable, and light-weight. What drew me to this pair was the adorable tassel draw string, a small detail, but one that gives them an even more fun, nautical look. I prefer high-waisted shorts in general, but always opt for comfort, and these shorts are tight-fitting around the waist but still easy to wear. When I wore these last week, I actually threw them on over my swimsuit for a day at the beach, but they transitioned perfectly to a casual evening look with the addition of earrings, and a pair of espadrille platforms.
